CFD consulting project of a bespoke ventilation louvre
CFD Engineering UK were able to model each of the scenarios where the ductwork penetrated the façade to provide data of the pressure losses being achieved.
In the first instance, the 20Pa requirement in the worst case was out by 130Pa. Following this, Dr. Robert Dul was able to recommend ways in which the slot configuration could be modified to reduce the pressure loss to the requirements.
This took a few iterations to bring it down to the lowest achievable pressure loss with the limitations of the cladding system. Each time, Dr. Dul was very helpful and quick to respond, showing his clear expertise to help us reach the best solution.
There was an exceptional level of cooperation and patience from Robert, as none of us here at BECT had ever used CFD Modelling in this way before. The report was always professional and easy to understand, and Robert was available at short notice to go through and discuss the findings and recommendations.
We will certainly be using CFD Engineering UK again and would recommend to anyone in need of CFD Modelling.

Update received from Client on 5th September 2022
“The aircon system seemed to work well – particularly as we were operating over the hottest day of the year – we were able to keep the internal building temperature at least 12 degrees cooler than the outside.
It was obvious that the entire space was being reached by the air with 1500 attendees in the room.
The one upside of the tweaks to the system was the tubes extending into the reception area – this provided a much cooler entrance space than we have ever had before which only helped to reassure the client.
Thanks again for your help on the project!” – Neil Coombes, Senior Account Manager, UKSV
